President Barack Obama has only been in office for just over nine months, but he’s already hit the links as much as President Bush did in over two years.
CBS’ Mark Knoller — an unofficial documentarian and statistician of all things White House-related — wrote on his Twitter feed that, “Today – Obama ties Pres. Bush in the number of rounds of golf played in office: 24.
Took Bush 2 yrs & 10 months.”
Remember lefty rage over Bush’s golf game?
This has been my best success to date! I wrote to this great actor back on the 27th of October, just one week ago. He is the star of dozens of movies, including one of my favorites, Apocalypse Now, and was the star of the long-running tv show “The West Wing”. Not only did he send me an autographed photo but he also returned the letter I had mailed to him. At the bottom of the letter he wrote a handwritten thank you note to me and dated and signed it. What a great actor and very kind to his fans!
Martin Sheen (Born 1940 in Dayton, OH)
His films include “Badlands”, “The Execution of Private Slovik”, “The Little Girl who lives down the lane”, “Apocalypse Now”, “The Dead Zone”, “Wall Street”, “The Final Countdown”, “Ghandi”, “Firestarter”, “Cadence”, “Gettysburg”, “The American President”, “Bobby”, “The Departed” and countless others. In his great career, he has tallied credits in over 210 different Television and Film projects. He has been nominated for nine Emmy Awards with one win, and Eight Golden Globe Awards with one win. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk-of-Fame and is the father of actors Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez. He is a noted and respected activist for many liberal causes.
**Update – Feb. 24, 2009 – As I continue with the hobby, I am finding that Martin Sheen has by far and away the best reputation in the autograph collecting world. He is gracious to all his fans and personalizes most all of his autographs. I have always been a huge fan of his and since I started collecting autographs and reading about the hobby, I have never read an ill word about the man. He is a true class act!
Another Update – March 13, 2009 – I wrote a short note to Martin Sheen last week, thanking him for his signed photo again and letting him know how much of a positive impact he has had on my newfound hobby. I am afraid these Stars get buried in fan mail and many, like Martin Sheen, will take the time to send out photos and answer letters, but many times they do so without any thanks. So, I just dropped him a note, let him know how much I appreciated the kind way he treats his many fans, and wished him well. Today, I got a nice card in the mail from him. It is handwritten from him, and in it he thanks ME for taking the time out of MY day to write him a thank you letter! What a truly nice man. His signed photo will always be front and center on my wall.

The Senate may vote TODAY on e-verify!
Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) has introduced an amendment to the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations bill that would require federal contractors to use E-Verify. The amendment is similar to one offered by Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) when the House considered their version of the bill.
Sen. Sessions’ amendment require all federal contractors to use E-Verify. Sessions offered a five-year E-Verify extension to the omnibus spending bill in March, but the amendment was tabled by a 47-to-50 vote. Unfortunately, at least one of your Senators was among the 50 to vote against Sen. Sessions’ E-Verify amendment.
We must make phone calls to Senators TODAY and urge them to support Senator Sessions Amendment!
For those Senators that voted against e-verify or voted to table it–we must call and urge them to vote FOR e-verify!
Time to stop being nice with these people! When you call, ask them things like:
Ask them if 9.5% unemployment is high enough yet to turn against illegal aliens and stand in favor of unemployed Americans.
Will unemployment ever be high enough for you to say illegal aliens shouldn’t have the jobs?
The point is, we MUST CALL TODAY! E-Verify MUST pass! E-Verify will create more jobs for AMERICAN CITIZENS==not illegal immigrants!
PLEASE CALL YOUR SENATORS TODAY and URGE THEM TO VOTE FOR E-Verify!!

Lisbon played in Dickinson on Saturday, October 31 against Dickinson Trinity. Trinity’s Titans share their “home field” with both the Dickinson Midgets and Dickinson State University.
Randy Gordon has been the head coach of the Titans since the fall of 1986 when the former Dickinson State linebacker resigned from Killdeer High to take over the reigns at Dickinson Trinity. Gordon does not have the longest tenure on the football staff, as offensive coordinator and boy’s basketball coach, Gregg Grinsteinner has run the offense since 1982.
In 1997 defensive coordinator, Jerry Holinka joined the staff and the Titans have qualified for the play-offs every year since. Trinity won state AA championships in 2000, 2001, and 2005.
The Titans also have two 8th grade coaches, two 7th grade coaches, two ninth grade coaches, and two other coaches that help with the 9th and JV teams.
Bronco Coach Robert Bubach is in his twenty-first year as a member of the Bronco coaching staff and is in his 15th year as Lisbon’s head mentor.
Bubach assisted Al Ralston for two years and Joe Howell for three years before taking over the reigns of the LHS football program. Coach Bubach became the first Bronco coach to reach 100 wins.
Pat Adair was the Bronco’s head football coach during the 2004 season as Bubach was serving his country with the North Dakota National Guard in Iraq.
Mark Moss joined the Bronco coaching staff under Adair in the fall of 2004 and Jason Kunze was moved up from the junior high program in the fall of 2006.
Lisbon has a total of two coaches for its junior high program in Richard Lacina and Kim Mark.
After all of the preparation by both coaching staffs, the Broncos and Titan players will have decided the outcome of this game. The winner advances to the semifinals of the AA play-offs and the loser puts their equipment away for another year. The winner of the Fargo Shanley and Carrington contest will face either Lisbon or Dickinson Trinity.

-The Caledonian Society intend celebrating the 117th anniversary of the birth of Burns by a banquet in the new Temperance Dining Hall, Notre Dame Street. The Rev Dr Murray of McGill University, and the Rev. Professor Campbell, of the Presbyterian College, will deliver addresses on the occasion.
A little disappointing, no lavish descriptions, no imitation Scottish brogue, just a paragraph marking the celebration of Burns’ birthday.
